Fernando Marín Riaño is a Founding Equity Partner with over thirty years of experience in legal practice. His area of expertise covers civil, commercial and administrative litigation, with a strong specialisation in real estate and urban planning law.

His career combines private legal practice with significant institutional experience, following his admission by competitive examination to the Legal Counsel Body of the Spanish Parliament and his work as a legal advisor to various Senate Committees for more than two decades.

Arbitration. He has acted as an arbitrator as well as counsel / attorney at law in numerous arbitration proceedings—either organised on an ad hoc basis by both parties to the action or those administered by leading arbitration institutional bodies—in complex disputes relating to supply contracts, construction works, real estate and corporate transactions, financial products, directors’ liability and conflicts between financial operators.

Civil and Commercial Litigation. Extensive experience in inheritance proceedings, actions for recovery of ownership and division of jointly owned property, easements, leases, civil liability, breaches of contract, agency agreements and goodwill claims, directors’ liability, challenges to corporate resolutions, shareholder disputes, unfair competition and trademark matters, among others.

Administrative Litigation. Legal representation in proceedings concerning port and mining concessions, public services, public subsidies and grants, expropriations, licences, urban planning discipline, planning instruments, public liability, sanctions and public procurement.

Commercial Conveyancing / Real Estate and Urban Planning. Over twenty years of experience providing comprehensive advice to operators in the real estate and commercial sectors, including expansion processes, asset acquisitions, project development, contract negotiation and dispute resolution. He has participated in transactions involving landmark assets, logistics portfolios, office buildings and residential developments, as well as in urban planning and land management matters.

Insolvency and Restructuring. Involvement in insolvency and pre-insolvency proceedings, including the approval of refinancing agreements and corporate restructuring processes across different sectors.

Corporate Transactions. Ongoing advice on commercial matters, structural transactions and company acquisitions. He also serves as Secretary to the Board of Directors of companies in various sectors.

Enrique specializes in litigation as well as real estate and urban planning law. He has a solid track record in both the public and private sectors. His experience includes managing urban planning procedures, civil, commercial, and administrative litigation. He provides comprehensive advice on real estate transactions and Town and Country Planning.

He has been involved in urban planning enforcement proceedings, highly complex legal proceedings, and real estate asset purchase and due diligence transactions. His in-depth knowledge of planning, urban management, and relations with the Governmental Authorities make him a leading expert in the field.

He has ample experience in a wide array of civil proceedings (construction defects, civil liability, injunctions, contract enforcement, etc.). In the field of contentious-administrative law, he has represented public bodies, companies, and individuals in proceedings related to licenses, urban planning regulations, administrative concessions, compulsory purchase orders, public authority liability, and public procurement.

Irene joined MBI Abogados as a partner in January 2026. She has over thirteen years of experience giving legal advice and in litigation management in a wide range of areas.

Throughout her career, she has advised both individuals and national and international companies in civil and criminal proceedings, as well as on compliance and corporate governance matters.

She has solid experience in litigation in the construction sector and in corporate disputes.

In the field of financial and corporate criminal law, she has represented clients—acting as both prosecutor and defence attorney—in proceedings of particular complexity and social relevance.

She also has extensive experience in the design, implementation, and development of Criminal Compliance Programmes, providing ongoing advice to multinational companies in various sectors. She has led numerous internal investigations and provides compliance training to management bodies, executive committees, and employees. She also acts as secretary to various compliance committees.

Rosa works in urban planning and all aspects of land management, with extensive experience in planning and development of urban projects nationwide.

Her practice focuses on the strategic management of Real estate assets and land holdings, representing clients on compensation (joint venture) boards and other collaborating urban planning entities, and liaising with public authorities, utility companies, and private owners, actively taking part in negotiation processes and the obtaining administrative permits and licences.

She is involved in the drafting, oversight, and processing of land-use urban planning and management documentation, including urban development and re-parcelling projects, special plans, urban planning agreements, and compulsory purchase projects, as well as in the drafting the declaration of division, articles of association and house rules and decisions by the property owners’ association.

She brings to MBI Abogados a cross-cutting vision of integrated urban planning, combining her legal expertise with the technical, and financial realities of projects. She has excellent negotiating skills, is shrewd in her dealings with public authorities and has a wealth of experience working in multidisciplinary teams. Pablo is a Junior Associate with a solid academic background in Business Law and professional experience primarily focused on corporate and commercial transactions. He has been involved in Corporate and M&A processes, participating in corporate operations, due diligence reviews and the drafting of key legal documentation, always adopting a meticulous and results-oriented approach.

He has an international background and speaks several languages. This enables him to thrive in diverse environments and liaise effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Pablo stands out for his proactive and approachable attitude, which brings real value to every project.

Sara has a unique combination of organisational, communication and efficient management skills, developed through her training as a teacher and her subsequent professional experience in the administrative area of a prestigious law firm specialising in various areas of law.
